Re-Imagining Communities

We are digging into what harm is in our community, how we respond to it, and what different looks like. Most impacted women are developing and sharing processes that work for us and our families. This type of work is referred to as Transformative Justice which deals with community-led alternatives to interpersonal harm (person to person) that does not include police, courts, or incarceration incarcerated women to do this work together and we have regular conversations with neighbors in Roxbury, Dorchester, and Mattapan.

Guaranteed Income Initiative.

Families for Justice as Healing (@justicehealing) in collaboration with The National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls (@thecouncilus) announced The Community Love Fund, a landmark guaranteed income initiative that will distribute recurring, direct cash relief to five formerly incarcerated and directly affected women from the Roxbury community for one year, starting in January 2021.

Families for Justice as Healing and The National Council have created The Community Love Fund to demonstrate that directly affected women can work and create the funds necessary to develop the infrastructure to support each other. This guaranteed income initiative is a first-of-its-kind pilot in the city of Boston and is intentionally designed to challenge the racial and economic injustice plaguing families affected by the criminal legal system.
